Therapeutic conversations promote self reflection, mentalization of self and others and a sense of connection.

Therapeutic conversations explore the areas of anxiety, fear, depression, coping styles, attachment relationships, trauma and PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder). It takes courage to make the commitment to this exploration with another person.

Therapeutic conversations allow you to explore your understanding of yourself, of others, and of your relationships.  Such conversations can increase your awareness of your interoception, that is, your bodily responses to emotional and sensory input.  They can also provide new and fresh perspectives on old or enduring patterns of communication that have been laid down over your life, from family, school, and general relationships in the world.

The Benefits of Therapy

Psychotherapy can be an effective tool in providing you with the necessary support and coaching to overcome challenges you may be facing, or have faced. By seeking therapy, you are taking action to change what may not be satisfying or productive for you in your life. Studies have shown that psychotherapy is an effective form of treating and managing mental illnesses and other emotional disorders.

I bring my experience as a Mental Health Nurse and an experienced Nurse Psychotherapist to explore the unique mental territory that is you in order to move toward a healthier, more fulfilling life. Utilising a variety of approaches including Developmental, Existential/Humanistic, Experiential, LGBTIQ approach, experience in treating clients with ASD, Interpersonal, Psychodramatic, Psychosocial, Relational Psychotherapy, Somatic and Mentalisation Based Treatment, I will work creatively with you to meet and understand your unique circumstances.

I aim to work with you to create an open channel of communication through a not-knowing stance. We will work on a collaborative goal for our therapy sessions together, based on several sessions of conversations.  Additionally, there are self-regulating and self-soothing skills that can be taught and practised, in session and out of session, hopefully developing a greater range of coping mechanisms for a wide variety of situations.

“Your present circumstances don’t determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start.”
